Recruitment is 5 months away and the next few months will go by so quickly. This is the time most girls are preparing resumes and packets for recruitment in August. Recruitment can be so scary and make girls feel so anxious. From being a potential member, to now being an active, I can tell you it does get much easier. I have loved being able to talk to girls about recruitment and tips on how to stay positive throughout the week. I recommend if you are on the edge of going through primary recruitment, give it a shot. You are able to walk away at any point if you decide a sorority isn't for you. But, I bet you change your mind when you meet AMAZING girls in Greek life.

Five points to remember for a successful primary recruitment.

1. ★ 𝔹𝔼 𝕐𝕆𝕌ℝ𝕊𝔼𝕃𝔽★

I can't say this enough. Girls, be yourself!!!!!! I promise the process works and I know that can be hard to hear in the moment especially during your stressful week. You are amazing, beautiful, smart, and have so much to offer. Don't get caught up in trying to be someone you're not. Most of the time you’ll get someone you will mesh with and be able to find something in common with without trying to change yourself. There will be some cases when you talk to a girl you don't click with but that's OK!! I can almost guarantee you that the active you talk to wants to know about you and that includes your quirks. When you are honest with yourself and the other girls you will find yourself in a house with girls like you. Every single girl in the pictures below is not 100% like me, some of them have very little in common with me. But, we are all ourselves and have become the best of friends.

2. ★ Don'т lιѕтen тo goѕѕιp ★

Girls, it can be so hard not to listen to what others have to say! when you go in to your recuitment process do not get caught up in what other girls are saying. Don’t let rumors and assumptions make you change your mind on a house! Let your own experience affect what you think about a house. Most of the time the gossip isn’t really true or it’s an assumption made on a whole house because of a FEW girls! Gossip can be so harmful to your recruitment process!

3. ★ 𝚈𝙾𝚄 𝙰𝚁𝙴𝙽'𝚃 𝚈𝙾𝚄𝚁 𝙵𝚁𝙸𝙴𝙽𝙳𝚂 ★

This is another big tip. If you are going through primary recruitment with friends, don't let their opinions and feelings make you change yours. I was super lucky to end up having my roommate and best friend now go Theta with me. The best part is I had no idea until bid day. You and your friends are friends for a reason, that doesn't mean both of you want the same thing out of a sorority. College is all about making new friends and that's big thing recruitment does for you. Go in with an open mind and let your friends do the same. You will regret choosing a house you don't truly love simply because your friend(s) are. I think one of the best things about having friends go through recruitment is when you pledge different houses you get to meet SO MANY girls from other sororities quicker because of your friend (s). A lot of the friends I have are in different sororities because of my friends in Theta. My friend, Madelyn, was roommates and longtime friends with a girl who pledged another sorority. Through Madelyn, I got to meet so many girls from her roommate's sorority.

4. ★ DRESS DON'T STRESS ★

I am going to start off this tip with I bought most of my recruitment clothes from Uptown Cheapsake. If you don't know what that is, it's a nicer Plato's closet. Dress how you want (within the requirements). Most houses could truly care less about your style (unless it's revealing) and more about who you are as a person. If you look at the pictures below each of us are dressed as required, but in our own way. The first picture is Philanthropy Day. I wore a high neck lace white dress and Madelyn wore a cute white sundress that tied on the side. Don't stress on your clothes just dress to your personality. I felt confident in my second-hand clothes. The best part is I got compliments from several girls in different houses and they didn't even know they were used. When it comes to how you look it doesn't matter as much as your heart. If you are dressed in second-hand cheap clothing but you have a heart of gold, your clothes won't affect you. If you have on the most expensive outfits but you aren't sweet then your outfits won't save you. Let your personality speak through your clothes and don't allow it to stress you out.

5.★ 𝒮𝑀𝐼𝐿𝐸 ★

This is the last tip I will leave you with. It is simple and yet can be tough- just smile. When you are lined up, when you are walking in, when you are sitting down, when you are leaving the house, and when you are waiting on the lawn as a party is ending, smile. I promise a genuine smile will get you noticed. Not only will a smile get you noticed, it will also make you relax and be social. If you sit up straight, smile, and relax you will get through each party so much easier. You're beautiful so let your smile shine and you will do just fine.
