I recently decided to change up my makeup routine. I love watching other bloggers or Youtubers to see what brands they use. I enjoy trying new ways of applying makeup, different price ranges products and different ways to use products. One of the Youtubers I watch recently did her make up routine sponsored by Maybelline. Another one of my blogger friends posted her make up tutorial and I got new ideas from her too. After watching both videos I decided to change out some of my products for drug store ones. We all know that sometimes more expensive brands from Sephora or Ulta are a lot better for your skin than drugstore brands but they are getting better. I decided to purchase new mascara, under eye concealer, lipstick, eyebrow gel, eye shadow, and a beauty blender. I decided to keep my same foundation just because I love it and don't want to change it quit yet. I've been using all these products for a little and wanted to share what products I really love and how I use them.
Below are 10 products you can purchase from any Target or Walmart. CVS or Walgreens probably has these too. All these products are under $10 and are quality drug store brands. I even included an extra product for eyelash growth that won't break the bank.
1. Maybelline Superstar Under Eye Concealer: $9.98
I decided to purchase under eye concealer to help brighten my eyes and get rid of any dark spots. I recommend putting it on after your foundation and then covering it up with concealer or lightly patting foundation over it. This will help it not be so bright and not look like a different color from the rest of your face. The wand applicator makes it easy to put on under your eyes and make a brightening affect. I give this product a 9/10.
2. Maybelline Lash Sensation Luscious: $7.97
I have tried multiple Maybelline mascaras throughout the years. I have never found one I didn't like. I chose to post about this one because, the blogger I follow uses this mascara. One of my favorites is the pink packaged one but the Lash Sensation is a great mascara and works well on your lashes. I give this product a 8/10.
3. L’Oréal Voluminous Mascara: $6.74
I am currently trying this mascara out after a recommendation from one of my roommates. I have absolutely loved it so far! It goes on so easily and doesn't clump at all which is a big deal for me. It helps make my lashes look long and flared at the ends. I recommend this mascara 100%. I give this product a 10/10.
4. Maybelline The City Mini Palette in Hi Rise: $7.94
The YouTube I follow used this palette in her Maybelline makeup tutorial. She used bronzer as an eye shadow base and then the orange in the palette on her lid. I love how this turns out on her blue eyes and have decided to start doing the exact same thing. When I went to New York I forgot my bronzer and just used the soft brown on this palette as the base and put the orange over top of it. It's a great palette and the perfect size for travel. You could also use this palette for highlight, bronzer, or blush in the case you forget those things. I give this product a 9/10.
5. Maybelline Tattoo Studio Brow Gel: $7.94
I have used Anastasia brow powder since my sophomore year of high school. It has been my go-to and it last forever. I decided to try this tattoo brow gel out for something different. I have fallen in love with it and I don't think I will ever use anything else. I have found that using a brow comb to brush my eyebrows up and then lightly powdering them before going over my brows with this gel, makes them look 100 times better. They had more neatness to them and allowed me to highlight them more. I have the gel in blonde and it works perfect for my eyebrows even over top of the powder. It also doesn't sweat or smear off. I give this product a 10/10.
6. Maybelline City Bronzer: $7.94
The YouTuber I follow also uses this bronzer in her Maybelline makeup tutorial video. It looks so pretty on and it's perfect for the summer. This bronzer will make you feel like you're on the beach.
7. Maybelline x Summer McKeen Lip-gloss in Barefoot: $5.94
Summer McKeen is a Youtuber and Instagram Influencer. She lives in L.A. and just had her second season of Endless Summer air on Snapchat. She recently teamed up with Maybelline to create a lip-gloss line. I have been using the same lipstick for a couple years now purchased at Sephora in a maroon shade. I wanted to try something lighter and shimmery that wouldn't cost too much. I purchased Summer McKeen’s lipstick in the Barefoot shade and absolutely love it. It adds a pink shade with a shimmer too it and is perfect for the summer. It is extremely affordable and has multiple different shades. It doesn't leave your lips feeling sticky or greasy. One thing I hate about lipstick is feeling like you're wearing lipstick (greasy lips or feeling like your lips are peeling off lipstick) this lip-gloss doesn't do either! I give this product a 8/10.
8. L'OREAL/Maybelline Beauty Blender: $5.94
One of my blogger friends uses a beauty blender to apply her foundation. I have used a foundation brush for years but, wanted to try this method out. After day one I fell in love with this way of application and not sure I'll ever use a foundation brush again. I found that by using Maybelline beauty blender, I was able to apply less makeup and it applied a lot smoother. It also made it easier to apply to and around my nose. It even helped my face not get oily and stayed on even in the New York heat. I give this product a 10/10.
9. Elf setting spray: $4.00
I have been using Elf setting spray for a long time. I still use setting powder but, I love my elf spray. It dries quickly and doesn't leave my face feeling like I just splashed it with water. This is a cheap setting spray that works very well. I can't reason with spending double digits on setting spray when most drug store brands have a good quality one. I give this product a 9/10.
10.Rapid Growth by IQ Natural: Online Only $15.00
I purchased this lash growth formula back in the spring. At the time I didn't want to spend over $100 on Lash boost from Rodan and Fields. I bought this formula for $15, I think. It had great reviews and can also be used to grow out your eyebrows. Like Rodan and Fields It will take a little while for growth to show. I give this product a 8/10.
I hope you enjoyed this post about drug store products you should try! If you purchase any and want to send me your opinions, I would love that! Everyone wants different things out of their beauty products and it's worth it to try out different things. I love to change up my makeup routine and try out different things. I'd love to hear about any techniques or products you use!
